Reeves Museum

With over 95% of the original family furnishings, the Reeves Museum, a 17 room Victorian mansion and Carriage House in Dover, Ohio, just minutes away from the heart of Ohio’s Amish country, was the home of industrialist Jeremiah E. Reeves.

Your experience begins in the Carriage House, where you will be met by a volunteer who will collect your admission and give you a brief overview of your visit. If your tour guide is ready, you will be escorted to the home. If not, you will have time to browse the 2 story Carriage House, which includes the family’s 1892 original carriage, the youngest daughter’s 1922 Rausch & Lang electric vehicle, a timeline of the history of Dover, complete with its importance to the Ohio & Erie Canal, a smaller rotating exhibit currently housing the history of the Dover City Schools, and the museum’s gift shop.

Your guided tour of the home will take approximately one hour, led by a knowledgeable docent, who will share the history of the family and the home, including how the current caretakers, the Dover Historical Society, came to own this beautiful piece of Dover’s history. You are escorted to all 17 rooms of the home on all 3 stories, including the third story ballroom.

Your tour will end back in the Carriage House, where you can enjoy pictures of the transformation of the home in the 1940’s, then back again to its original splendor in the late 1970’s/early 1980’s.
